DID Aggregation Protocol Litentry Wins the 23rd Kusama Parachain Auction

DID aggregation protocol Litentry has secured the 25th Kusama parachain slot after winning the 23rd auction.

In an announcement on Sunday, January 30, the official Twitter channel of Litentry announced that its sister network Litmus had won the 23rd Kusama parachain auction with the help of 849 crowdloan contributors who locked 10,821 KSMs tokens in the favor of Litentry.

The announcement reads:

“Litmus won the #23 slot in the Kusama parachain auction! We have raised 10,821 KSM from 849 contributors.”

With the parachain slot secured, Litmus will be onboarded to Kusama at the start of lease 19 along with other auction-winning parachains of auctions number 21, 22, 24, and 25. The lease 19 of Kusama will begin on February 21, 2020. The parachain connected at the start of lease 19 will remain connected to Kusama for the next 48 weeks from February 21, 2022, to January 30, 2023.

Litmus Crowdloan contributors will now receive 30 native LIT tokens as rewards for each KSM token they locked in the favor of Litentry during the auction.

With the conclusion of the 23rd auction, the 24th Kusama parachain auction is well underway that will end on February 6.

This is the fifth round of Kusama parachain auctions. There were 5, 6, 4, 5 auctions in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round respectively. 2 more auctions for the 5th round are yet to be complete. As NewziTech reported earlier, Integritee Network was the winner of the 21st Kusama auction. Darwinia Carb was the winner of the 22nd auction.

Auctions for the main Polkadot blockchain chain are also in full swing where the team has concluded the eighth parachain auction on Thursday, January 27th, with DeFi platform Centrifuge as the winner.

What is Litentry and Litmus?

Litentry is a Substrate-built parachain that works as a Decentralized Identity Aggregator to enable linking user identities across multiple networks. According to its description:

“Featuring a DID indexing protocol and a Substrate-built distributed DID validation blockchain, Litentry provides a decentralized, interoperable identity aggregation service that mitigates the difficulty of resolving agnostic DID mechanisms.”

While Litentry is built to work on the Polkadot blockchain, the Litmus Network will be a canary network that connects to the Kusama ecosystem. It will be a lighter network with a simple token economy and less feed. Both networks will be powered by LIT token.
